OCTOPUS Front-End Node (octopus1,2) Maintenance Notice

OCTOPUS front-end node maintenance will be performed according to the following schedule.

Maintenance Schedule

Thursday, September 17, 2026, 15:00–16:30

  • octopus1: 15:00–15:30
  • octopus2: 16:00–16:30

Maintenance Details

OpenSSL update on the OCTOPUS front-end nodes (octopus1 and octopus2)

Impact

OCTOPUS has the following two front-end nodes. During this maintenance, each node will be rebooted individually.

  • Front-end node 1 (octopus1)
  • Front-end node 2 (octopus2)

If you are connected to the affected front-end node at the time of the reboot, your SSH connection will be disconnected.
The two nodes will not be rebooted at the same time. The reboots are scheduled as follows.

  • Front-end node 1 (octopus1): Around 15:15 on Thursday, September 17
  • Front-end node 2 (octopus2): Around 16:15 on Thursday, September 17

While one front-end node is being rebooted, the other front-end node will remain available.

How to Connect

As usual, connecting with the following command will automatically connect you to an available front-end node, either octopus1 or octopus2.

ssh octopus.hpc.osaka-u.ac.jp

You can also connect directly to a specific front-end node by specifying its hostname as follows.

ssh octopus1.hpc.osaka-u.ac.jp

ssh octopus2.hpc.osaka-u.ac.jp

Additional Information

Services other than the OCTOPUS front-end nodes will not be stopped. Jobs that have already been submitted or are currently running will continue to be processed as usual.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
