Abstract:
Open science has been gaining more attention in recent years. To enhance research transparency and promote the effective use of data, it is important to record not only research data itself but also its “provenance”—information describing which input datasets were used and how the research data were produced. We are developing SCUP-HPC, a system that automatically records the provenance of data generated by computing systems. Without requiring any modifications to users’ programs, SCUP-HPC records information such as the input data files and the runtime parameters used to produce computational results. These provenance records enhance the reproducibility and reliability of computer experiments, thereby promoting data reuse and contributing to the advancement of open science.
